The word "virtual" simply means "A thing that looks exactly like the object that it describes". Virtual also means "An object that exists or functions through a computer software".

Virtual football, therefore means "football that are programmed to play through a computer software". It simply means that those playing the matches are not HUMAN BEINGS.
Virtual football are programmed to look exactly like real life football. This is done by incorporating the trends and realities of real life football into the programming of the software . For example :

(1). Name of players in real life football are use in virtual football. Every league has their unique names of players in virtual world of football. You cannot see a name like Ronaldo, Messi, Drogba when you are playing a Nigerian virtual football league (vfl).

(2). The strengths of real football players and teams and similar in virtual world. This means that a strong team in each country's league cannot be found at the bottom of the league's table at the end of any football season. Just like a strong team like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Napoli, Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Manchester United cannot be found at the bottom of their respective league tables.
