The sports betting industry is becoming a vital sector of
economy in countries where betting are legally approved. Many punters and
non-punters are making good profits on daily, weekly and monthly basis from the
trading. The bookies (betting companies) are also rejoicing as they bank in
huge amount of money from losers as well. So betting is a
profitable business to both the bookies and
the bettors.
There are three categories of Bettors in the betting world.
Before I talk about them, let me quickly remind you that betting is a form of gambling.
All gambling involves losing and winning. You must be willing to give
before you can be worthy to take. So, all sports bettors must GIVE and TAKE.
Now, the question is “Is the amount that you are GIVING greater than the amount that you
are TAKING?”. When the investment does not yield any profits or is lost in most
cases, then you need to plan better and trade better.
The category of bettor that you belong can have a huge
impact on your overall betting success. Read about the three categories of
bettors below and chose which that suits you.
(1). The High Bettors: This group of bettors places their
bets with big amounts of stakes. They mostly bet on favorite teams that win
most of the time in their league matches. These set of bettors do not
accumulate more than three matches on a single bet slip or ticket. So, they
prefer to stake on small odds with big-stakes. They can bet on odds that can
even give them between 5% to 50% returns on their money. Such odds could be
between 1.05 and 1.50.
If a high bettor places a high stake of N100,000 (One
hundred thousand naira) on 1.25 odds, his winnings will be 25% of his stake:
N100,000 x 1.25 = N125,000
Profits = N125,000 – N100,000
= N25,000
Although, the high bettors win most of the time, their loses
is also high. In the long run, these set of bettors do not really make good
profits, because they need to win a minimum of five out of every seven bets. I
will explain the reason for that in another post.
(2). The Average Bettors: This
category of sport traders does not stake high like the first categories above.
Those belonging to this group places their stake on odds between 5.50 and 50.50
with average stakes from N500 (Five hundred naira) to N10,000 (Ten thousand
naira). They accumulate between five and ten matches on their tickets. This category
of bettors only needs to win a minimum of three or four matches out of every
seven matches.
Average Bettors can be further
divided in two classes:
(a). Long-term Average Bettors
(Bettors that expect their profits after few months or annually)
(b). Short-term Average Bettors (Bettors
that expects their profits on daily or weekly basis)
(3). The Low Bettors: This set of
bettors uses a stake between N100 and N500 per ticket to bet on bigger odds.
Most bettors in these categories are likely to bet on odds ranging between 500
to 50,000. Due to the small stake involve, they aim very high winnings. This
group of bettors also accumulates between ten to forty matches on their bet
slips.
Due to the higher number of
matches on their tickets, these set of bettors do not win often. Let me clarify
here that bigger odds can be generated from few matches as well. What gives
bigger odds is the degree of risk involves. For example, if you combine only
three matches of Half-time/full-time; or three matches with correct scores, you
will generate bigger odds. Bettors at this group can bet throughout a year or
two without winning a single ticket.
However, their one time winnings
can cover their many previous years of betting.
In summary, it is the average bettors
with proper planning that can actually generates good profits from sports betting.
